Saugerties Public Library invites applications for director of its new state of the art facility. The director will be responsible for overseeing all library functions both administrative and technical. Responsibilities are performed under the general direction of the library board. Supervisory responsibilities are required for a current staff of 14, including a staff librarian. Ideal candidates for the position will possess excellent communication skills, experience in collection development, current and applicable technology skills, experience in a supervisory role, a keen understanding of friendly library service, and a desire to be a full participant in the larger Saugerties community.
A Masters Degree in Library Science from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association or recognized by the New York State Education Department and 2 years of professional post degree experience is required. Candidates must be eligible for a New York State public librarian’s professional certificate at the time of application and will be required to take and pass the civil service exam for Library Director 1.
