Put Primary Sources in Students’ Hands (from big deal book of technology, October 1st issue)
The Library of Congress (LOC) has released a set of free ebooks for iPad users. The Student Discovery series brings together historical artifacts and one-of-a-kind documents on a wide range of topics, from history to science to literature.Interactive tools let students zoom in, draw to highlight details and conduct open-ended primary source analysis. The series covers the United States Constitution, the Dust Bowl, the Harlem Renaissance, immigration, symbols of the United States and the cosmos. The ebooks are available to download with iBooks on a Mac or iPad and with iTunes on a computer.
